Entertainer arrested for marijuana

JAKARTA: Police arrested well-known entertainer Avi, 30, on
Friday afternoon on suspicion of drug possession.

Avi, whose real name is Joko WS, was arrested by police at her
rental home on Jl. Gerai in Cipete, South Jakarta, at 3:30 p.m.

Officers also arrested another suspect, identified as Januar.

The South Jakarta Police's top drug cop, Adj. Comr. Sutana,
said on Monday that Avi was being charged with drug possession.

Sutana said officers made the arrest after receiving a tip
from the public.

Police seized from Avi a small package of marijuana weighing
four grams.

Sutana said that Avi, who is a transvestite, asked police to
place her in the women's detention cell, not the men's. --JP.
