Enjoy the music, forget the talk

SEMARANG: Campaigner Supriyadi proved it is hard to entertain sympathizers of the Indonesian Democratic Party under the unpopular leadership of Soerjadi.

Only several dozen people attended the party's rally here Monday. Most, apparently, came with the main purpose of enjoying the Dangndut folk music.

It was only a few minutes after the music stopped to allow Supriyadi to deliver his speech when supporters shouted at him, "Get down, we want Dangndut.

Impatient, Supriyadi yelled at the crowd, "Did you come here to listen to the party's program or see Dangndut?"

To his embarrassment, the crowd replied, "To see Dangndut". (38/pan)
