English competition at SMU Kanisius

JAKARTA: About 260 students from 37 high schools in Jakarta, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Bandung and Balikpapan took part in the recently completed third Canisius English Competition here, the organizers announced on Monday.

There were four categories in the competition: debate, presenting ideas, story-telling and news board, Dennis Hendra Widjaya, chairman of the Canisius English Forum, said.

SMU Pelita Harapan in Tangerang won first place in the debate competition, while SMU Tarakanita I in Jakarta won the presenting ideas category. SMUK 5 in Jakarta won the story-telling category, and SMU Kanisius, also in Jakarta, the news board.

The annual competition was held at Kanisius high school on Jl. Menteng Raya in Central Jakarta, from Thursday to Sunday.--JP
