Engineers to study in India

JAKARTA: Twenty-two engineers from the Ministry of Public Works will leave for India tomorrow to pursue master's degrees at the University of Roorkee.

The Indian government gave scholarships to the engineers under its technical assistance scheme for other developing countries.

The ministry organized a farewell party yesterday for the engineers. B.N. Reddy and M. Subbarayudu of the Indian embassy were on hand.

Soesilo Soekardi of the ministry said that Indonesia would need more technical expertise to help develop its eastern regions.

India provides scholarships to people in Asia, Africa and South America.
