Employees of BII on strike

JAKARTA (JP): Employees picket the Bank Internasional
Indonesia (BII) headquarters on Jl. M.H. Thamrin, Central Jakarta
for a second straight day on Tuesday to demand better pay from
the management.

After negotiations between the union representatives and the
bank's management, it was eventually agreed that a pay rise would
be awarded in March but would be backdated to February.

"The formula for the raise will be determined by a working
group and will refer to the previous agreement between the
parties," BII's managing director for law and compliance
Fransiska Oei said in a joint press statement with the union on
Tuesday.

"The union calls on employees across the country to stop the
protest and resume their normal duties following the agreement,"
