Emission tests canceled

BANDUNG: Vehicular gas emission tests slated to be held throughout October at every road leading into the city has been canceled due to a lack of funds, the head of the regional Environmental Impact Agency in West Java, Sumarty B. Hanafi, said on Monday.

"In the absence of funds, we can only manage to conduct tests at certain checkpoints, namely Jl. Setiabudi, Gasibu field on Jl. Diponegoro, Leuwipanjang bus terminal and Cibiru traffic circle," Sumarty said.

"We even have to borrow the equipment from the Bandung Land Transportation Agency," he added.

One checkpoint was expected to accommodate a maximum of 500 cars per day. (25/edt)
