Emergency aid for holidaymakers

JAKARTA: State-owned insurance company PT Jamsostek and publicly listed pharmaceutical company PT Kimia Farma have set up integrated medical posts in 42 cities and towns across Java and Sumatra to provide emergency aid for holidaymakers.

The 42 integrated health posts, stationed from Padang in West Sumatra to Banyuwangi in East Java, will open 12 hours a day from 7:00 a.m. until 19:00 p.m. three days before and two days after Idul Fitri.

"The medical posts backed up by doctors, drugs and ambulances will provide free emergency aid for Idul Fitri travelers who have health problems during their trips to their hometowns," Kimia Farma president director Gunawan Hartono said here on Thursday.

Those in need of further medical treatment would be taken to nearby hospitals, he added.

Jamsostek president director Iwan Priyono Pontjowinoto said the medical posts were set up in bus terminals, railway stations and seaports along the trans-Sumatra highway and the northern coastal road on Java in a bid to build closer relationship between the two state-owned companies and people.

"This program is part of our service to the public," he added. --JP
