Elza's dossiers sent to prosecutors

JAKARTA: Police submitted details of bribery charges involving Elza Syarief, a lawyer for murder-accused Hutomo "Tommy" Mandalaputra, to the Jakarta Prosecutors' Office on Thursday.

"Police submitted the dossiers of Elza Syarief to the Jakarta Prosecutors' Office today as the investigation has been completed," Adj. Comr. Anton Wahono, the head of the city police detectives for corruption, told reporters.

Elza is accused of bribing Rahmat Hidayat and Tatang Somantri with Rp 2 million each to lie in Tommy's trial. Both were guards at the Cemara Apartments in Central Jakarta, where several firearms believed to belong to Tommy were found.

Elza was detained by the police from May 6 to June 6.

Earlier on Thursday, Elza came to Jakarta Police Headquarters as part of her release conditions to report twice weekly. She was accompanied by her lawyers, Hotma Sitompoel and Ruhut Sitompul.--JP
