Elvis revisited
How dare you print such opinionated material on one of my generation's heroes, and one of music history's greatest architects. (The Jakarta Post, Nov. 15, 1996: Bloated white icon still adored in black farce).
Presley was one of the leaders, a first, and a history maker. If Tom Hutchinson had been there in 1955, or 1958, his story would have been different. He obviously has only seen the manipulated end of El's life.
Elvis is a legend. He brought the young generation, and the independence movement, a sense of freedom, and the beginning of a new era in music.
Of course there have been names synonymous with "great" in music, both before and after Presley. Miller, Charles, Sinatra, and of course, the "Red Hot Chili Peppers", will all be long remembered, but do these names conjure the same image? Of- course not.
History has formed its own opinion, and so have I, so please Mr. Hutchinson, don't speak ill of the dead. Long live the King.
