Elementary school students get milk
MAKASSAR, South Sulawesi: The United States government distributed on Saturday free milk for 21,300 elementary school students in Makassar.
The country manager of the U.S.-based Land O'Lake Indonesia- USA, Matchu Craos, said the milk would be given to the students three times a week for nine months.
He said the free milk program was part of a country program that had been going on since 2000. The program targets children in 70 regencies and cities in nine provinces across the country.
The U.S. government has pledged to maintain the program in 2004.
"However, there will be a 30 percent reduction in its value," Matchu said.
In Makassar, the program will end in October 2003. -- Antara
