Election seminar for journalists

JAKARTA: Several French journalists shared their know-how and
experience in elections reporting with their Indonesian
counterparts at a week-long conference which began here on
Monday.

The seminars and workshops were organized by the French
Embassy in Jakarta ahead of Indonesia's June 7 general election,
the first elections since the downfall of former president
Soeharto in May last year.

The government has relaxed reporting restrictions on the media
since Soeharto's resignation.
