Elderly man dies in Buton fire

KENDARI, Southeast Sulawesi: An 80-year old man was killed
when a fire broke out in a mansion in Bau-bau, a city in Buton
regency, in the early hours on Tuesday.

Several other people suffered burns and were rushed to the
hospital, Antara reported.

The fire which hit the home of a local businessman identified
as La Tamba was believed to have started from a short circuit.

This is the second large fire to occur in Buton in the past
month. The first one, which started at the residence of a
descendant of the Buton royal palace, destroyed three houses and
dozens of palace heirlooms. (emb)
