EC envoy touring provinces
JAKARTA: Head of the European Commission in Indonesia, ambassador Klauspeter Schmallenbach has left Jakarta for a one- week visit to EC-Indonesia development projects in East Java, Bali and West Nusa Tenggara.
During his visits to East Java and Lombok, Schmallenbach will observe the seed production technologies there which are being compiled in the Palawija (secondary crops) Seed Production and Marketing project, which is helping the region improve production and marketing strategies of the palawija seed industry.
In Bali, he will visit the citrus production area which is a part of the provincial government's agricultural development policy to re-establish citrus production in the Singaraja region of northern Bali.
The four-year Bali project is expected to provide irrigation water and supply drinking water to farmers and their families in the area.
Schmallenbach is also scheduled to meet government officials in the provinces he visits. (pwn)
