East Timor to open consulate general
SURABAYA: East Timor plans to open a consulate general in Surabaya, an Indonesian government official said on Wednesday.
The new consulate general will speed up the processing of documents, and enhance economic and educational ties between Surabaya and East Timor, said Suparwoko, the head of the Information and Communications Office at the East Java provincial administration.
There are currently some 500 East Timorese students studying in Surabaya, said Suparwoko. -- JP
