East Timor promotes tourism

DILI, East Timor: Efforts to promote East Timor's tourism industry overseas are intensifying, head of the provincial tourism office, Thomas Correira, said here Monday.

"We are promoting natural attractions in the districts of Bobonaro, Dili, Liquisa, Baucau and Los Palos," he said.

He said, however, many tourist spots could not be developed due to limited funding.

He hoped investors would help develop the province's tourism potential to improve local welfare.

Nearly 10,000 tourists visited the province last year, mostly from Australia, the United States, Japan and South Korea. (swe)
