Earthquake rattles Bengkulu
BENGKULU, Bengkulu: An earthquake measuring 4.7 on the Richter scale jolted Bengkulu and its environs early on Tuesday morning.
There were no reports of fatalities or property damage.
Armien Paimin, head of the Kepahiang Geophysics Office, located some 60 kilometers from Bengkulu, said the epicenter of the quake was located somewhere in the Indian Ocean south of Bengkulu.
The tremor was the second largest to shake Bengkulu since an earthquake measuring 7.3 on the Richter scale hit the area in June 2000, claiming 94 lives and damaging thousands of buildings. -- Antara
