E-learning community established

JAKARTA: In order to enhance the distant e-learning quality in many institutions, a group of professionals established E- learning Community on Wednesday.

Initiated by Bina Nusantara University, the community will publish an e-journal and newsletter, as well as run seminars and training programs about e-learning, such as the recent development of program applications, the instructional design, or the infrastructure problems like bandwith.

Other organizations involved are Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Council Regional Open Learning Center, Informatics Communication Technology Watch, Gajah Mada University, PT Microsoft Indonesia, PT Hewlett and Packard Indonesia and PT Oracle Indonesia.

Bina Nusantara University director of information systems program, Hanny Santoso, said the community was also a place for the professionals to share experiences, knowledge and work together to develop e-learning.

"Hopefully we can improve the system here. We have a lot to do to catch up with other countries," he added. -- JP
