E. Java province opens radio station

SURABAYA (JP): East Java Governor Imam Utomo launched on Wednesday a new radio station, JT-FM 92.7 Radio Musik Indonesia, which is owned by the local provincial administration, with the aim of disseminating information about its development achievements to the public.

About 40 percent of its programs will consist of information about the local administration's achievements and policies, Gunarto, an official of the provincial administration, said. The station is situated in the governor's office compound.

"The remaining airtime will be music and cultural programs," Gunarto said in a statement.

The radio, manned by nine people, is on air from 5 a.m. until midnight daily.

The launching of the radio was marked with a dialog between the governor and listeners from Mojosari, Pasuruan and Ponorogo for about 20 minutes. (nur)
