Duty on airplane parts lifted

JAKARTA (JP): The government has lifted the duty on the imports of materials, spare parts, components and tools for airplanes for a year in a bid to promote the country's aircraft maintenance industry.

According to a decree issued by the minister of finance dated Sept. 11, the zero percent import duty, effective from Aug. 14, covers airplane parts and spare parts such as framework, components, accessories, tire casings and inner tubes, thorax engines, as well as airplane air conditioners and toilet deodorants, Antara reported on Thursday.

The new duty will effect the overseas repairs of airplane components owned by Indonesian airlines and will be effective until Aug 13, 2001, it said. (10)
