Dutchman drowned in Bengkulu

BENGKULU: A 42-year-old Dutchman, later identified as Mosjaab, drowned to death yesterday in the tourist resort of the Pantai Panjang beach here when he was swimming on the shore along with his wife, daughter, and son-in-law.

Local police chief Lt. Col. Muh. Amin Saleh said Mosjaab was swimming on the shore at around 2 p.m. but was then missing a few minutes later.

"His body was found at 3.20 p.m. at the same location," Amin was quoted by Antara as saying.

Amin said Mosjaab was found after police made a thorough search along the beach and later taken to hospital.

His body was later flown to the Dutch Embassy in Jakarta. (aan)
