'Dutch Oranges' at Erasmus Huis

JAKARTA: Fifty illustrators of children literature from the Netherlands are showing their original designs in an exhibition called Dutch Orange at the Erasmus Huis on Jl. Rasuna Said, Kuningan, South Jakarta, for one month, starting Aug. 5.

Orange is the color of the Dutch Football team. The orange tree is the symbol of the Royal House of Orange in the Netherlands and the fruit it bears is a delicacy, "a guarantee of quality". That's why the exhibition is called "Dutch Oranges".

The Jakarta Institute of Arts is also organizing an exhibition featuring designs by 42 children based on their favorite books or tales at the same venue.

"Dutch Oranges" is organized by the Netherlands Foundation for the Production and Translation of Dutch Literature. The exhibition gives an overview of the chosen work of illustrators of children's literature. It also includes a portrait of each illustrator and a mini interview on the criteria needed for a good children's book illustration? --JP
