Duta Pertiwi denies violation

JAKARTA (JP): PT Duta Pertiwi, the private builder of the Roxy Mas International Trade Center project on Jl. KH Hasyim Ashari, Central Jakarta, has denied having violated any city regulations.

Muliadi Irawan, a company manager, said on Thursday that his company has fulfilled all the requirements set by the city administration.

"We built the project based on the governor's instruction No. 329/1991," he said. The instruction calls for incentives to be provided to owners of over 4,000 square meters of land to build high rises and commercial buildings to deal with increasing shortages of land.

Saud Rachman, a member of the City Council's Commission D, which oversees development affairs, said on Tuesday that the developer has built an additional apartment building which was not included in its land-use permit.

He said that the permit clearly states that the city administration permitted the developer to use the 80,292-square- meter plot of land only for a supermarket and office buildings.

The commission will summon the developer in the near future to discuss the case.

Muliadi, however, argued that the instruction allows a developer to build apartment buildings even though the land use permit, which came out before the instruction, was issued for a supermarket and office buildings.

Muliadi reiterated that his company has completed all of the requirements, saying: "The Central Jakarta development supervision agency issued the development permit in May, 1994, and the use permit in June 1995," Muliadi said. (yns)
