DuPont gives scholarships
JAKARTA (JP): U.S chemical giant DuPont Far East Inc. announced Monday it would award Rp 72 million (about US$6,500) in scholarships to eligible students from 33 state universities in Indonesia during 1998/1999 academic year.
DuPont Indonesia's country manager Frank Moniaga said that the scholarship program was aimed at helping to ease the impact of the economic crisis which has affected students' ability to continue their studies.
Students who meet the criteria will receive a total of Rp 2.4 million for a full academic year. Recipients who maintain consistency in their performance may be eligible for another scholarship the following year.
Scholarships will be awarded to students whose studies are in line with the company's business and corporate interests, such as agronomy, plant protection, agroindustry, biotechnology, biology, chemistry and environmental engineering. (gis)
