Drug suspected in Puncak discoss

JAKARTA: At least four discotheques in the Puncak holiday resort area are allegedly being used by drug dealers to run their business, an activist said Wednesday.

Maman Agustiawan, who claimed to chair the so-called Democratic Islamic Party, told Antara he suspected that drug transactions had been held in the four discotheques, identified as Mus, CIP, GA and CV, in the past year.

Maman called upon the police and local administration to take serious action in combating drugs.

Earlier reports said that a number of night spots in the Puncak area were vandalized by Muslim radicals, who suspected that drug dealers and prostitutes operated in those places and vandalism is their way to express displeasure.-JP
