Drug raids last with two condoms

BOGOR (JP): A joint drug raid carried out on Tuesday by the Bogor administration in four schools failed to seize any drugs, although two condoms, a pornographic video compact disc (VCD) and pictures from Playboy magazine were found in a boy's schoolbag in the Ciheuleut area.

"We'll continue staging the routine raids and provide proper explanations to students on the dangers of drugs," chief of social and political affairs in Bogor E. Rukanda said.

The second grade high school boy, whose identity was concealed, was handed over to the school principal for further supervision.

Officials carried out the raids in four schools: technical school STM YZA, public high school SMU Negeri II, SMPN III junior high school and PGRI III high school.

"These raids are a follow-up to the calls of war against drugs, gambling and prostitution by some 5,000 Muslim youths, religious and community leaders in Bogor sometime ago," Rukanda said.

School administrators, however, said that officials should have conducted the search on youths hanging out at their favorite places, such as malls.

"Every Saturday, our school carries out a drug search on our students ... but it would be more effective to raid youngsters at the malls or kiosks located nearby the schools," STM YZA principal Adjat Sudrajat said. (21/24/edt)
