Drug dealer nabbed in Bogor

BOGOR (JP): Housewife Nia Kurniasih, alias Atun, 22, was arrested in a drug raid at her house in Kampung Babakan Sirna in Cileubeut Timur village here on Sunday night, an official said.

Her husband, 30-year-old Yusuf Maulana, who escaped the raid by jumping from a house window, has been put on a wanted list, said Bogor Police chief Lt. Col. Ade Husen Kartadipura.

Two ounces of dried marijuana, nine envelopes of mixed hashish and Rp 15,000 was seized from the house as evidence.

Ade claimed that the couple had reportedly been distributing and using marijuana for some time.

The arrest was made following reports from the couple's neighbors, who regularly witnessed many guests at the house.

"Residents became suspicious, and found out that the house was a marijuana distribution point. We then checked it out and raided the place," Ade said.

Nia said clients were school boys and Yusuf's friends.

"They bought an envelope of mixed hashish for Rp 100,000 and some tried it first," she said, adding that she used money from the sales for daily living expenses.

When Nia married Yusuf seven months ago, he was working as a parking attendant.

"I didn't know that he was a drug dealer. But at the end he forced me to distribute marijuana," she claimed.

Separately, Bogor Police also arrested on Sunday night three marijuana users, all aged 14 years, in a routine operation at the popular Puncak mountain resort.

The three, identified as Erfan, Rosidin and Saifuddin, were traveling with four other teenagers in the area when the police conducted a routine search.

Police seized a package of dried marijuana from Erfan's pocket as evidence.

The case is being handled by Bogor Police.

"We were hoping to get leads from the user about the drug dealers," Ade added.

A conviction for storing, possessing or using marijuana carries a maximum penalty of seven years in jail and a Rp 250 million fine. (21/edt)
