Driver's license not valid at Citibank

On Feb. 23, at about 2:20 p.m. I wanted to cash a check at Citibank's Prince Sudirman branch, but the teller refused because I could only show my driver's license. Only a resident identity card (KTP) or passport are acceptable.

When I asked since when and where is it written (I could see no sign/announcement) she said it was an internal memo. After having to argue and wait for more than 30 minutes (I still had to take the cash to another bank before 3 p.m. closing time) with three different people, ending with Ms. Indra Pramnesti of Customer Relations, I could get the cash with the understanding that next time I will need a KTP or passport.

Doesn't Citibank trust a valid document issued by the Police anymore? The main purpose of having to show ID should only be for verification that the person cashing the check is indeed the person named, or whoever the person is, if it is a cash check. Once the ID is verified the bank should pay. Where is your "excellence in service", Citibank?
