Drinking water

From Bisnis Indonesia

A certain hospital located in Central Jakarta uses tap water to water the trees of the park. I believe they have to use plenty of water because the park is large.

My concern is why do they use drinking water for watering the trees? If other establishments do the same things as the hospital does, we can imagine how much drinking water is wasted. When I inquired about the matter, I was told that even if they used the water from the well, the Drinking Water Company would charge them according to the company meter.

The hospital has to pay not less than Rp 10 million to the water company. Who actually pays this bill? No doubt, it is the patients who are being treated at the hospital who share the burden. In this context the water company should review its policy on metering well-water, so that the use of their water can be more efficient.
