JAKARTA (JP): Minister of Education and Culture Wardiman Djojonegoro is scheduled to open a traveling exhibition of contemporary Aboriginal art called "Dreampower: Contemporary Aboriginal Art of Australia" at the Art Exhibition Building on Jl. Merdeka Timur on Monday.
Dreampower is the largest collection of contemporary Aboriginal art to tour Indonesia, the Australian Embassy said in a statement yesterday.
Dreampower is a collection of some 40 canvases and batiks on silk by 13 of Australia's foremost artists of the Papunya Tula movement and the Utopia movement, most notably Kathleen Petyarre, Turkey Tjupurrula and Abbie Loy.
Curated by David Cossey of Gallerie Australia, Adelaide, and sponsored by the Australia-Indonesia Institute, Dreampower will be exhibited until Aug. 16. (hhr)
