JAKARTA (JP): Known for her distinctive childlike painting style which has captivated observers, Erica Hestu Wahyuni is embarking on a brand new project.

On a scaffold at Taman Safari Indonesia in Cisarua, West Java, she is working on a painting measuring 3 meters x 4.5 meters which depicts the nature and animals to be found in the safari park.

It is part of her preparation for a solo exhibition at Galeri Nasional Indonesia in April, which will travel to Singapore the following month and Moscow in June.

"I am very grateful to Taman Safari Indonesia which has given me the freedom to observe and paint the flora and fauna here because I now have the chance to realize on canvas my longstanding dream," Erica said during a media gathering at the park on Sunday.

"I am not being overly ambitious, but only wish to express myself as a woman who loves animals." (Mulkan Salmona)
