Dragnet for flower throwers

CIREBON, West Java: The local administration is offering Rp 250,000 cash for those who will act as police informants, giving the authorities information about people who intentionally litter the city with flowers.

Mayor Kumaedhi Syafrudin said the people who are practicing the "throw away the sorrow" procession always throw away petals prepared for offerings at a number of important streets in the city.

He said that the activity was against the city's policy of maintaining cleanliness, Antara reported.

The local people usually hold the procession on Friday nights. (par)
