DRAFT BUDGET SUBMISSION:

Setneg

President Soeharto (right) greets Coordinating Minister for Economy and Finance Saleh Affif, while Minister of Industry and Trade Tunky Ariwibowo looks on.

Soeharto summoned yesterday Saleh, Tunky, Minister of Finance Mar'ie Muhammad, State Minister of National Development Planning Ginandjar Kartasasmita, Minister/State Secretary Moerdiono, Governor of Bank Indonesia Soedradjad Djiwandono and the government's economic advisor Widjojo Nitisastro to his residence on Jl. Cendana, Central Jakarta.

They presented the President with the draft of 1998/1999 state budget to be delivered to the House of Representatives on Jan. 6 next year.

Saleh told journalists after the meeting that he had fully recovered after undergoing a heart operation in Singapore in October.

The minister looked relaxed and opened a few buttons of his shirt to show journalists his scar. He said he stayed in Singapore for about three weeks after the operation, and that Soeharto had advised him to rest afterward.

"The doctors told me not to play tennis for a while," he said.

But, "my horse power capacity has returned to normal," he said, bursting into laughter. (prb)
