Dozens of families flee from big waves

PADANG, West Sumatra: At least 72 families (some 350 residents) in Muaro Haji, Pesisir Selatan regency, West Sumatra province, took refuge on Saturday to safer areas after strong waves hit their neighborhoods.

At least 50 houses in the area were severely damaged after torrential rain, followed by strong waves, hit the area from Thursday. No fatalities have so far been reported in the incident. -- Antara
