Dossiers on Unas students delivered
The South Jakarta police have transferred the dossiers of the 12 students of the National University (Unas) accused of burning the command post of the university's student regiment late last month to the local district prosecutors' office.
The police precinct chief, Lt. Col. Silvanus Julian Wenas, announced to reporters through his adjutant over the weekend that the dossiers had been completed.
The adjutant refused to comment as to whether the dossiers of a number of regiment members accused of attacking students in an earlier clash, which led to the burning of the command post, had been completed as well.
According to head of the South Jakarta Criminal Investigation Unit, Capt. Charles H. Ngili, the dossiers on the students' were handed over on Friday.
"But I have no idea about the completion of the dossiers of the regiment members involved in the earlier clash because the incident has yet been reported to me from the Pasar Minggu sub- precinct which handles the case," Ngili said.
He said that two or three members of the student regiment were arrested following the arrest of the students from the Nature Lovers Association (Himpala).
The 12 students could face a maximum prison term of five-and- a-half years if found guilty of damaging the facility. (bsr)
