Don't buy anything from street vendors

The chief of the city security and order department urged Jakartans not to buy anything from sidewalks vendors and peddlers who sell their merchandises in the restricted areas.

"Without the public support those sidewalk vendors and peddlers will keep selling their merchandises in the road and the other restricted places," A.F. Lapian said as quoted by Antara yesterday.

Lapian said that some of the restricted areas for the sidewalk vendors and peddlers are on the protocol roads, the city's greeneries, the city medians and all of the city's bus shelters.

According to Lapian, the sidewalk vendors and peddlers are only allowed to sell their goods in parking lots, outside office buildings and around the market whether it is traditional ones or supermarkets.(mas)
