Donation for Seribu Islands
City administration has received a Rp 18 million (US$8,226) donation from PT Australia Indonesia Milk Industry for the procurement of a motor boat for public transportation of residents of the Seribu Islands, North Jakarta.
The donation was handed over by representatives of PT Australia Indonesia Milk Industry, a dairy product company popularly known as PT Indomilk, to Deputy Governor for Public Welfare Affairs R.S. Museno at the Ancol recreation center on Saturday.
Museno said the city administration is grateful to receive the donation. "The boat to be bought with the donation will be used to distribute clean water for the islanders," he said.
PT Indomilk agreed to add another Rp 5 million when its representatives found out that the initial donation was only enough to buy a boat and its engine without the fiberglass top.
City administration has strived to improve the conditions of the Seribu Islands, where there are four under-developed villages. The four are part of 11 under-developed villages throughout Jakarta.
After receiving the donation, Museno, who was accompanied by the chief executive officer of PT Indomilk A. Wahab Asjari, presented awards to the winners of the company's 8th anniversary quiz. (mas)
