Dollar lower in Europe

LONDON (UPI): The dollar was lower in Europe yesterday, trading in extremely narrow range ahead of the release of the U.S. Purchasing Managers Survey and the November payrolls report.

In London, the U.S. currency was trading at 1.5670 German marks against the previous close of 1.5630. The dollar was quoted at 99.06 Japanese yen against the previous close of 99.95.

In Frankfurt, the dollar opened at 1.5685 German marks, down from the previous close at 1.5703.

In Paris, the dollar opened at 5.3805, down from the previous close of 5.3880.

In Tokyo, the dollar closed at 99.01 Japanese yen, up from the previous close of 98.98.

In Singapore, the dollar closed at S$1.4635, unchanged from the previous close.

In Hong Kong, the dollar closed at HK$7.7335, unchanged from the previous close.

Gold closed at $381.55 in Hong Kong, down from the previous close at $383.25. In London, gold started trading at $381.25, down from the previous close at $383.25.

Silver opened at $4.95 in Zurich, down from the previous close at $5.05, while in London it opened at $4.92, down from the previous close at $5.07.
