Documentary on East Timor made
DILI, East Timor: The provincial office of the Ministry of Education and Culture has begun filming a documentary on the remains of the Portuguese heritage and culture left behind after the province was integrated into Indonesia in 1976.
The head of the office's information section, Emanuel Ulu, said here yesterday that with the integration of East Timor, the Portuguese culture left behind was now also part of Indonesia's culture.
"The artifacts left behind after Portugal occupied the area for 450 years are now part of our national asset and should be preserved," he said.
He said the documentary would begin by capturing all the buildings that were built during the Portuguese colonial period. (mds)
