Dock workers involved in ink theft

JAKARTA: Penjaringan Police, North Jakarta, arrested on Thursday two fugitive dock workers allegedly involved in the theft of a truck of printers' ink worth Rp 1 billion (US$117,647) last October.

Earlier, the police arrested three of the syndicate. Three others of the group were still at large, according to police.

A detective revealed that three Navy personnel who had allegedly taken part in the robbery had been detained.

Penjaringan Police chief Comr. Khrisna Murti told Tempointeraktif the two were arrested at their homes in Serang, West Java.

The robbery took place as the truck carried boxes of ink from the PT Dartek warehouse in Muara Baru, North Jakarta, to Mangga Dua, Central Jakarta. While crossing Jembatan Tiga, Pejagalan, several people in military uniform stopped the truck. -- JP
