Doc claims to have cancer beater

PADANG, West Sumatra: An expert on animal nutrition claimed yesterday that he had engineered a traditional West Sumatran food into a potential cancer preventive and cholesterol diluter.

Dr. Ir. Made Sugitha of the University of Andalas said the traditional dadih was found to contain the streptococcuslactis and lactobacilus acidophilus bacteria which are effective against cancer and cholesterol.

Dadih is made of water buffalo and cow's milk.

Antara quoted Made as saying that an experiment in February, funded by the Ministry of Education and Culture, found that lab rats tested positively when given the traditional food.

He further explained that the lactobacilus acidophilus bacteria can live inside the human intestines and help digestion of food and eliminate the harmful pathogen bacteria. (mds)
