Djajoesman announces new police officers

JAKARTA (JP): City police chief Maj. Gen. Noegroho Djajoesman installed on Thursday Lt. Col. Sutarman, formerly head of the city police career control unit, as the new Bekasi Police head, replacing Lt. Col. Adjie Rustam Ramja.

Adjie is scheduled to be installed as West Jakarta Police chief, replacing Lt. Col. Timur Pradopo, who will be appointed as Central Jakarta Police chief, replacing Lt. Col. Iman Harjatna.

The latter will be promoted to head of the Jakarta Police Intelligence Directorate, replacing Col. Aris Sampurno.

Speaking of Sutarman's appointment, Noegroho said: "The replacement is a kind of tour of duty which will be experienced by all officers."

He said the substitutions were needed to refresh senior officers and ensure they were aware of all facets of police operations.

"Our intention is to provide opportunities to officers to experience leading a security force in an area, so that they will develop as well-rounded leaders when assisting their subordinates."

Inaugurations of the other officers will be carried out before the People's Consultative Assembly's (MPR) General Assembly Session, scheduled to be held in November.(emf)
