Djajanti's fish canning plant

JAKARTA (JP): PT Biak Mina Jaya, a subsidiary of the Djajanti Group, said yesterday it had planned to build a fish canning plant to increase its total production to 11,000 tons per day.

The Djajanti Group's head of the Irian Jaya region, Busli Baraka, said in Biak, Irian Jaya, that the plant would have a production capacity of 10,000 tons per day and was scheduled to be completed by August.

He told Antara the new plant would cover 50 hectares of land in Biak, but he declined to give further details about total investment in the plant.

He said the company currently produced 1,000 tons per day. The company sold its product in the domestic market, but also exported it to Japan, Hong Kong, South Korea and the United States. (gis)
