District head accused of mob attack

TANGERANG: A liquor supplier has reported the Pinang district head and several administrative staff members to the police on Friday for allegedly attacking him while he was at the administration office.

Wahyudi, a resident of Batusari subdistrict, Batuceper, said that Asikin and his subordinates attacked him on Thursday afternoon, causing him to suffer bruises to his face and body.

Tangerang police detective police chief Comr. M. Hendra said on Friday that Asikin spotted a minivan delivering 50 boxes of liquor to several stalls in the Kunciran Mas housing complex on Thursday.

The district head later asked the driver to get his boss to meet him at the office.

"When Asikin asked Wahyudi to show his identity card, the latter refused and tried to leave. His attitude caused his office staff to hit him," Hendra said.

However, Asikin denied that he hit the liquor supplier.

"I tried to save him from my angry subordinates," he said.
