Discipline on toll road

From Bisnis Indonesia

Lately a number of military units in Jakarta have been flagging down and checking vehicles bearing military number plates. It would be a good thing if such operations were extended to include disciplinary behavior of toll road users, including Armed Forces members.

It is not precluded that quite a few Armed Forces members violate toll road regulations, including the intra-urban toll road from Bekasi over the cloverleaf to Grogol. Jasa Marga traffic wardens seem reluctant to take the necessary steps against regulation violators if they happen to be in Armed Forces vehicles.

At the East Pondok Gede toll booth reserved for toll users with the exact change, many road users including Armed Forces members obstruct the flow of traffic by not adhering to the rules.

If necessary, Jakarta Military District Commander Major General Setiyoso should visit the intra-urban toll road incognito during peak hours to see for himself the behavior of certain road users.
