Disadvantage of long weekends

From Berita Buana

For all its many pluses, the long weekends promised by the government will have a particular disadvantage for me, a civil servant with a lowly position. I'll be sad to see too many days off; call me a grouch if you like. A day off from the office gives me a headache.

I enjoy being home, but if I'm home on days off, I have to put up with "seven rounds of headaches," with my wife and the children each making pressing demands -- let's find recreation, come with me shopping, fishing, and so on. They are understanding on workdays, they don't pester me.

How shall I imagine two free days -- week comes week goes! Every Sunday they say, "It's Sunday, dear Daddy ..." Two free days? Oh heavens! What shall become of me?

Not that I don't love my wife and my children. But my pay can hardly make ends meet.

So a lowly government employee like me should be allowed to choose to work on Saturdays with overtime pay.
