Dimitrije Popovic, Fine Arts Person of the Month

Painter Dimitrije Popovic has returned from Italy with yet another honor. The prestigious Italian jet set magazine Class proclaimed him its person of the month for February, putting him in the company of nine other distinguished personalities who were also conferred this honor.

Every month, Class selects eminent and renowned people who have distinguished themselves in various fields of activity.

Popovic was selected from the world of art for his exhibition The Body and Space, which was held recently at the Fondazione Stelline Palace in Milan. Class presents Popovic through his paintings and accompany text and explains: "A painter who gained national fame in Croatia, and recently held a solo exhibition in the Palazzo delle Stelline in Milan, simply signs himself with his first name. Dimitrije Popovic, aged 48, is a virtuoso with the pencil. His drawings have an indisputable quality, and they reflect his sense of beauty as well as the unforeseeable terror contained in it. Dimitrije has been inspired by certain works of da Vinci for years, proving that this genius can be brought up to date even after 500 years."

The other people on the Class list of people of the month are: businessman Bruno Colombo, journalist Gian Antonio Stella, model Jacquette Wheeler, operatic soprano Charlotte Church, skier Benjamin Raich, industrialist Gildo Zegna, actress Sabrina Ferilli and designer Alberto Meda.

Popovic is simultaneously preparing new international exhibitions. He is supervising the forging of his two-meter sculpture Et in Arcadia Ego in the Zagreb Artwork Foundry. This piece will be exhibited at this year's Triennial of Sculpture in Paris and then at the Vittorio Emmanuele in Milan. He is also preparing another exhibition in Italy dedicated to Dante. The works will be exhibited in May at the Museo Dantesco in Ravenna.
