Dim Sum luncheon at Shang Palace

A wide selection of dim sum is available at the Shangri-La Hotel's Shang Palace Restaurant in September.

Shang Palace is an ideal venue for work-related dinners or for a meal with friends.

A variety of items served in small portions are prepared daily by chef and dim sum expert Lee Wah Kwok, including Ravioli Dumpling Soup, Superior Har Gao, Chicken Siu Mai, Chaozhou Chives Dumpling, Chicken Feet and Stuffed Chicken.

The restaurant, which has 327 seats and six private rooms, incorporates both classical and contemporary Chinese interior designs.

Stepping into the Cascade Lounge at Hotel Mulia, Senayan, is like stepping into another more sophisticated world.

"Carioca Dance" at Borobudur

The cake of the month at Hotel Borobudur's bakery Borobudur Gourmet is the Carioca Dance, named after the number performed by Fred Astaire in the 1933 movie Flying Down to Rio.

Alternating layers of coffee-soaked genoise and dark chocolate mousse, the cake is frosted with bitter-sweet ganache and topped with glazed almonds.

The Carioca Dance is sold for Rp 150,000 (US$15).

Come and watch Javanese dances

Chances to watch traditional Javanese dances are rare, even for the Javanese.

The Jakarta Arts House (GKJ) will present on Sept.16 and Sept.17 Portraits of Javanese Dance featuring renowned dancer Retno Maruti, who also directs the show.

About 60 dancers will perform traditional as well as contemporary dances.

Tickets price are priced at Rp 50,000 (US$5) and Rp 40,000.

Don't miss these French movies

French movies will be shown in Jakarta from Sept.3 through Sept.24 at CCF Salemba and CCF Wijaya in Jakarta.

French beauties Audrey Tautou, Virginie Ledoyen, Ludivine Sagnier and Marion Cotillard are among the movies' stars.
