Dictionaries

My job requires me to use dictionaries a lot. My favorite English-Indonesian and Indonesian-English dictionaries, by John M. Echols and Hassan Shadily, are published by PT Gramedia. I also use Oxford Advanced Learner's Dictionary.

I usually search for words while working with my word processor and it is inefficient every time I have to open my dictionary manually.

For my English dictionary I do not have any problems since I have the CD-ROM version. I can easily find definitions of words right at my finger tips. But for the English-Indonesian and Indonesian-English dictionaries, I cannot find CD-ROM versions.

I hope PT Gramedia will publish CD-ROM versions of these dictionaries. With the increased use of computers, I believe many people require a CD-ROM dictionary to aid their work. Until now, there is no English-Indonesian or Indonesian-English CD-ROM dictionaries available.

Considering that PT Gramedia is the biggest publisher of books and has PT Elexmedia Komputindo, which publish computer books, computer magazines, electronic magazines in CD-ROM, as its sister company, it is hoped that a CD-ROM version of English-Indonesian and Indonesian-English dictionaries will be published soon.
