Dibyo to attend joint forum
JAKARTA (JP): National Police Chief Gen. Dibyo Widodo confirmed last night that he would attend the upcoming coordination meeting with heads of the Supreme Court and Attorney General's Office.
"Of course I will go, I'm the police chief, right," he said.
Doubts surrounding Dibyo's attendance followed several recent disputes between police and the Attorney General's Office over the handling of some investigations.
The matters involved corruption allegations leveled against three former Bank Indonesia directors and the alleged violation of investigation procedures by three prosecutors.
The routine meeting is to be held in Jakarta on Feb. 5.
"We hope that we reach agreement on many things which can be used to deal with some obstacles," Dibyo said.
But he refused to elaborate on the obstacles or the possible solutions which would be discussed at the meeting.
"I can't talk about that because the meeting has not started. We'll announce whatever we've agreed on later if it has been ratified by all of us in the meeting.
"One thing is for sure," he said. "The relationship between the police, Supreme Court and Attorney General's Office, as investigators, is being developed further." (cst)
