DialMart starts operating today

JAKARTA (JP): New household shopping service company PT DialMart Indotama is scheduled to start operations Tuesday to serve customers in Jakarta, Tangerang and Bekasi.

Company president Lenny Marlina said on Monday at a ceremony inaugurating the service at the Regent Hotel that DialMart had received support from the banking industry and major firms in Indonesia.

Lenny said three banks -- state Bank Rakyat Indonesia and private Bank Internasional Indonesia and Bank Lippo -- had agreed to provide a secured payment system to DialMart's customers.

"Our customers could choose the banks to assist in paying their shopping bills," she said. She added the company had registered 500 initial customers.

Meanwhile, Sahat P. Siagian, the company's operational director, said firms including PT Wicaksana Overseas and PT Indomarco had committed to deliver DialMart's orders on time.

At Monday's inauguration ceremony, membership cards were presented to 14 public figures, including lawyer Tumbu Saraswati, TV presenter Dana Iswara, actress Nia Zulkarnaen and businesswoman Martha Tilaar, the firm said in a statement. (jun)
